Wolves and Eagles:

In chapter 6, Bilbo escapes from Gollum and is thankful to find Gandalf and the dwarves in the forest.  They are all thrilled to be reunited but they know the Goblins will be hunting them as soon as the sun sets.  They set off to get as far away from the mountain as possible.  They reach a clearing and hear wolves howling in the distance…but these are no ordinary wolves.  Everyone climbs the nearby trees and narrowly escape the wolves who are known as Wargs.  The Goblins eventually reach the trees where everyone is hiding from the Wargs.  The Goblins set fire to the trees and Gandalf, Bilbo, and the dwarves are rescued by the Lord of the Eagles.
