Niki and I worked on her website today. (Ignore the main page. It will be more impressive once she has more pictures up but I can’t tweak that main page differently. Ug.) We learned a valuable lesson – take a picture of her work before she gives it away or sells it! I think we only have about a quarter of the items she’s made on the website. Oh well.
We worked on it today because there is a designer who wants to see her portfolio. We needed to make it accessible via the Internet thus we worked on gathering and taking pictures for most of the day. She has tried for the past 5 months to get a job (aside from her Etsy shop). She has filled out no less than 30 applications and did follow up calls on almost every application. Her weakness…no prior job experience – even though she’s put down that she’s babysat, volunteered weekly for a year at a special needs school and has her own online sewing business. Apparently, not good enough in this economy when she’s competing with so many other people for jobs.
If you need any alterations or want help with a sewing project, or need a babysitter let Niki know. (I will personally vouch for Niki on the babysitting. She watched 5 crazy boys under the age of 5 by herself multiple times where others crumbled. I promise she can excel at taking care of your kids!!!) I promised her a mission trip for her graduation present last year. She just signed up for Project Mexico for this summer and will be going with my sister. One of my brothers and my sister have previously gone on this mission trip. It’s essentially Habitat for Humanity in Mexico through the Orthodox orphanage there. Now she’s trying to save up for a plane ticket to get there. (Not to mention the ever important gas money for her car.)

It looks fantastic! All the best!
