Per a request from one of my fellow homeschooling moms, here is what we discovered at the castle:

 Rose of Sharon

My friend, Katherine, shared additional information about this flower with me on facebook:

I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters. -Song of Solomon

The fathers say it’s a symbol of the Theotokos.

Beauty berries – They can be used for wine and jelly.  Birds will eat them but only when all other food sources are depleted.
